City of Brownsboro

11351 Willow St, Brownsboro, Texas 75756

Brownsboro, the oldest town in Henderson County, is centrally  located between Athens and Tyler. We are a small town of 900 to 1000  neighbors. Having an area of approximately 3 miles truly makes us all  neighbors.

The institution of marriage has a strong foothold here. Over half  of the households are married couples. We value our children and readily support activities and programs for them. Our schools continually rank  well above average. The teachers strive for improvement in all areas of  academia and sports.

People in Brownsboro have grown up with good, old-fashioned morals and values. This, in turn, leads to good work ethics. We are not afraid of hard work. We want to grow and prosper in our community.

Brownsboro is fortunate to have several churches that all help in supporting the community.

Many attractions are within easy driving distance of Brownsboro.  On any given weekend there are activities in nearby Athens or Tyler that we enjoy. Some available options include movies, expos, sporting  events, shopping, dining, water sports and fishing.

We are located between two of East Texas’ premier lakes: Lake  Palestine and Cedar Creek Lake. There are also several private lakes with great fishing.

Athens is home to the Texas Fresh Water Fishery complex, which  hosts a multitude of activities. It is also home to the Henderson County Fair complex where rodeos, horse shows, or auctions take place on most  weekends. This also hosts the Henderson County Livestock Show in April  each year, which showcases local Four-H clubs and county high school  agriculture projects.

In Tyler, the Rose Garden is well known for its beautiful gardens  and meeting facilities. There is also a theater group that presents  plays several times a year. In Tyler there are many upscale dining spots as well as a mall and many types of shopping venues. The last week of  September brings the East Texas Fair to Tyler and it provides all the  activities fair-going crowds enjoy: rides, games, crafts, livestock, and food.

Access from Brownsboro to both Athens and Tyler is provided by a  four-lane highway. This is also important as both cities have excellent  medical facilities. Tyler has Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, East  Texas Medical Center Hospital, and University of Texas Health Center at  Tyler. All have a full complement of doctors and state-of-the-art  services. Athens has a branch of East Texas Medical Center. There is  also easy access to the Pounds Field Regional Airport in Tyler.

Brownsboro Independent School District provides a quality  educational opportunity for all levels of students as well as sports,  band, drama, speech, journalism, and ag activities. It is a top  academically recognized school in the 3-A classification.

Some of the activities available include Keep Brownsboro  Beautiful, softball, t-ball, Little League, little dribblers, and other  small-town events. On the Fourth of July weekend, Keep Brownsboro  Beautiful sponsors Sparks in the Park,€ an event enjoyed by many  residents. There is a band, concessions, prizes, and games. In December, the residents attend the Shooting Stars in the Park, also sponsored  by Keep Brownsboro Beautiful. This includes singing by the third-grade  music class from Brownsboro Elementary, hot chocolate, candy canes, and a visit from Santa.

Brownsboro is also located 25 miles from the world-famous First Monday Trade Days in Canton. This is an easy drive, and always  well-attended by citizens of Brownsboro and the surrounding area.

Brownsboro exemplifies small-town living in the easy, relaxed way  of a by-gone era. It may take an hour to buy a few groceries and pick up mail at the post office because there are so many people to visit with  and to catch up on some of the local happenings.

We value our faith, our families, and our community!
